How it works

From your site to your vault in four steps

Every backup runs the same pipeline, automatically, on your schedule.

STEP 01CaptureDatabase + all site files

STEP 02CompressOne tidy archive + manifest

STEP 03EncryptAES-256-GCM, your passphrase

STEP 04Ship off-siteTo every destination you pick

Why it matters

One bad day shouldn’t cost you your website

Hacks, failed updates, an accidental delete or a host outage can take a site down in seconds. Razenet Backup keeps tested, encrypted copies off-site and blocks one of the most common ways attackers get in: uploading a malicious file.

0x01

Complete backups

Database, uploads, plugins, themes, everything else in wp-content, and optionally WordPress core and wp-config.php, all in one archive.

0x02

Encrypted before it leaves

Encryption happens on your server, so Google, Dropbox, Microsoft or your NAS only ever see scrambled data. Tampered or damaged files are detected.

0x03

Upload firewall

Every uploaded file is checked on every request. Scripts, programs, disguised files like shell.php.jpg and images hiding PHP code are rejected.

Backup features

Set it once. Sleep better.

Everything you need to back up, store and restore a WordPress site, with no extra add-ons.

schedule

Scheduling & control

  • Every 6 hours, twice daily, daily, weekly or monthly, at the time you choose
  • “Run backup now” button with a live progress log
  • Exclude folders or file patterns, and skip oversized files
  • WP-CLI command for server cron jobs: wp razenet-backup run
retention

Storage & retention

  • Send every backup to several destinations at once (3-2-1 rule)
  • Separate “copies to keep” for the server and for each destination
  • Old backups are cleaned up automatically, everywhere
  • Optional: keep nothing on the web server once off-site copies succeed
restore

Restore with confidence

  • One-click restore of the database, uploads, plugins, themes or all of them
  • Download any backup straight from the dashboard
  • Standalone decrypt tool, so your backups never depend on the plugin
  • Plugin settings and credentials are kept safe during a restore
monitor

Peace of mind

  • Email alerts when a backup fails (or after every backup)
  • Clear dashboard: last backup, next run, destinations, encryption status
  • Large backups are uploaded in chunks with automatic retries
  • Cloud passwords and tokens stored encrypted, never in plain text

Security features

Make sure nothing gets uploaded that shouldn’t

Attackers love a site that accepts files. Razenet Backup & Security locks that door from several sides, and logs every attempt.

upload-firewall.loglive · inspecting every request
BLOCKEDshell.phpserver script (.php)
BLOCKEDinvoice.php.jpghidden double extension
BLOCKEDlogo.gifimage contains PHP code
BLOCKEDicon.svgSVG can carry scripts
ALLOWEDteam-photo.jpgclean image

Upload firewall

  • Covers the media library, forms, REST API, AJAX and other plugins
  • Blocks PHP, scripts and executables (.php, .exe, .sh, .bat and more)
  • Catches double extensions and images with hidden code
  • Every blocked attempt is logged with IP and reason

Upload lockdown

  • Normal: only safe files from permitted users
  • Admins only: nobody else can upload, even through front-end forms
  • Full lockdown: no uploads to WordPress at all
  • Optionally block all uploads from logged-out visitors

File-type allowlist

  • Choose exactly which file types the media library accepts
  • SVG blocking to stop script-carrying images
  • Dangerous types can never be added to the list by mistake

Server hardening

  • Stops scripts from running inside the uploads folder (Apache/LiteSpeed rules added automatically, Nginx rules provided)
  • Blocks installing or uploading new plugins and themes
  • Disables the built-in file editor and XML-RPC

Daily uploads scan

  • Checks every file in your uploads folder for scripts and hidden code
  • Emails you the moment something suspicious appears
  • One-click quarantine moves threats out of reach

Protected backups

  • Stored in a hidden, access-denied folder, or anywhere outside the web root
  • Downloads only for logged-in administrators
  • Off-site copies encrypted with your own passphrase

How “pay to own” works

  1. Choose pay once ($280) or monthly payments.
  2. Every payment counts toward the $280 cap.
  3. Reach the cap and you own the plugin for life. No renewals, ever.
  4. Buying a 4-Page Website from Razenet? It’s included free.

If monthly payments stop before the $280 cap is reached, the plugin is deactivated. Payments made up to the cap always count toward ownership.

FAQ

Questions, answered

What exactly does it back up?

Your WordPress database, media library (uploads), plugins, themes and the rest of wp-content (mu-plugins, languages and so on). You can also include WordPress core and wp-config.php. Cache folders and other junk can be excluded.

Where are my backups stored?

Wherever you choose: Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, any S3-compatible service, or your own TrueNAS (MinIO, Garage, SeaweedFS, WebDAV/Nextcloud, SFTP/FTPS or a mounted share). You can use several at once, and keep a copy on the server if you like.

Can Google, Dropbox or Microsoft read my backups?

Not if you turn on encryption. Backups are encrypted with AES-256-GCM on your server, with a passphrase only you know, before they’re uploaded.

Will it stop hackers uploading malicious files?

The upload firewall checks every file uploaded through WordPress, including forms and other plugins, and rejects scripts, executables and disguised files. Scripts are also blocked from running in the uploads folder, and a daily scan alerts you to anything suspicious. Keep your hosting, FTP and SSH passwords secure too, since those don’t go through WordPress.

What does “pay to own” mean?

You pay $280 once, or in monthly payments until you reach the $280 cap. After that, it’s yours for life: no renewals and no subscription. If monthly payments stop before the cap, the plugin is deactivated.

How do I get it free?

Purchase a 4-Page Website from Razenet. Razenet Backup & Security is included at no extra cost, and we’ll set it up for you.

Do I need a TrueNAS?

No. TrueNAS support is there for people who want backups on their own hardware. Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive work great on their own.
