The Price
I read awhile ago an article online that asked the question.
“how much should a web design cost?”
Well not to quote his entire article to the letter I wanted to detail this as much as possible in my own words and include some background experiences of my own. As it was stated when I read the article many people run for the hills when I mention the price and to be honest I don’t blame them I often find myself choking up the answer to this very common question. Afterward I consider all the work and why does it “seem” to cost a lot for what I do?
I know it is difficult to understand that theirs actual work involved in making something out of nothing and after years of designing websites, logos and graphics I have refined the process considerably and this is good for me and great for you! the next question however is “how long will this take you?” well this really isn’t as simple a question as it may appear. Let me put it this way, 8 years ago I designed my first website it probably took me over a month to bring it live and even after that I was constantly working and tweaking and always asking friends for help. Now I have gained experience and have refined my methods and over all everything flows faster and I solve the problems quickly.
So to answer this I would ask, would you rather pay someone lets say $3000 for a couple of months? or longer? Would you not rather see the site done sooner, and pro-efficiently for the same cost? I don’t want to imply that every website can be done in a day and of course this doesn’t take into account daily updates or maintenance but only that whatever the site might be the time it takes someone to design it and bring it live is based on his or her experience.
Cost of construction:
1. Buy a domain. $10
2. Buy a hosting package. $60/yr often cheaper to purchase additional years
3. You need a designer to either recreate or redesign a style to fit your needs and requirements.
Before you know it the cost of this idea has gone up significantly. The hard fact about being a web designer is that it requires some knowledge of coding and creative thinking.
Clients:
The type of clients I look for and design for know what they want the site to accomplish and typically promotes their business, they may sell products, marketing or increasing exposure. These clients have a purpose, plan and the money.
I am always looking for those individuals to do business with that have a sense of what they want and are open to creativity within the project.
The Designer:
I absolutely love working with people with a passion about their business and who are excited to create a masterpiece that is accessed online from anywhere in the world. I am always open to talk to you and am willing to share what I know so that you know I have no intention of taking advantage of you. I do this work because I love this work, my passion is art and design and to be creative. My time is balanced between finishing the project as well as giving great care and attention to all details of the project.
